Benefit's They're Real! Mascara

Benefit's They're Real! Mascara
Are your lashes real or fake?

This is Benefit's They're Real! Mascara. This is a black mascara which is supposed to lengthen your lashes. You can also now get this mascara in the shades beyond brown and beyond blue, all retailing at £19.50 in the UK.

Reason for purchasing
I purchased the sample size of this mascara in an ELLE magazine. After trying the sample size I was so impressed and wanted to try out the full thing. However, it's only until recently that I have purchased it. The sample size sempt to make my lashes look full and black and looked natural but also gave the essence of them looking like false eyelashes so I wanted to try the full sized product.

Good points
For me, a mascara must have a small, thin wand so that I can lengthen my eyelashes easier as I have small eyes. However, this wand is bigger than I would normally go for but I love it! The wand makes sure your lashes get enough product on them without overdoing it, it makes application easy and certainly makes it easy to lengthen those lashes! If you want a mascara which is easy to apply, choose this! It will save you plenty of time doing your eye makeup. Also, I really like the packaging of this. I think some mascaras look plain and boring but this once doesn't. It has structure and a nice shiny silvery finish to the product making it more appealing to the eye. Another thing what I like about this is that it does not clump up your eyelashes. Even though this is a semi thick wand in my opinion, the product does not become clumpy during the day and when applying which is why application is so smooth and simple with this mascara. The blackness of this mascara is also very good. You can get mascaras which you have to keep applying to build the intensity of it up but with this, it isn't the case. Your lashes will look black within a matter of seconds!

Bad points
This mascara makes my eyes pop. BUT...this mascara does not make my eyes looking 'pop' all day. The colour seems to dry on my lashes, making the mascara less visible to other people. Also, I find that during the day, it begins to flake off my eyelashes leaving me with little bits of black on my face. I find that the colour will transfer onto your lids if you have oily eyelids like I do. Applying a eyelid primer before kind of sorts the problem out but not by much. I find I'm looking in a mirror after a few hours, wiping my eyelids because of transfer from the lashes. This mascara doesn't really keep my lashes lengthened all day either. I find that the longer you wear this product throughout the day, the more it becomes poor in my opinion. Recently, Maybelline have brought out a new mascara called 'lash sensational' and in my opinion, it's so much better than this mascara (I will review this soon.) I wouldn't say this was a dupe for this because the wand is more like benefits roller lash mascara but I certainly use that more than this. A dupe for this mascara would be, in my opinion, L'oreal's telescopic mascara which I will also review so you can see the comparison

Overall
In my opinion, there isn't a lot you can say about mascaras. This one, had more points to talk about than expected. I give this 7/10. Would I repurchase? Probably not after trying Maybellines new lash sensational mascara as that one is drugstore and a lot more affordable. As I find this mascara does transfer on my lids, which is annoying, people with normal or dry skin would possibly not find this the case. However, I would still recommend this mascara to people who possible already have longer eyelashes as it still isn't a bad product if you're willing to pay the £19.50 it costs.
