Will you try being Naked?
This is an eye-shadow pallet by Urban Decay. This pallet comes with 12 shades, 3 matte shades and 9 shimmer shades and also comes with a duel ended brush. Within the 'naked' collection in which Urban Decay have, there are 3 other pallets you can try. Naked 2 retails at £38.50 on the Urban Decay website.
The main reason I wanted to try out this pallet is because of how pigmented I thought the shadows were. I wanted to try out the brand Urban Decay also as this was my first product of theirs. I had heard good reviews around creating the overall 'neutral' look with this pallet so I wanted to try it out for myself.
Good points.
Firstly, I LOVE the packaging. The shadows are encased in a tin like pallet which is with a beautiful muted pink/purple shade. Inside the pallet contains a mirror which is always great if you are travelling or in need of a mirror. This pallet also comes with a duel ended brush which provides a shadow and a crease brush. The brush that comes with the pallet is really good. The bristles are soft for blending and making it easy to pack on product onto the brush. Lets get on to the shadows...below are all the colours featured within the pallet. I really enjoyed using this pallet at first. I thought the shadows were really nicely pigmented and provided a lot of colour. All the matte shades stayed matte throughout the day and the shimmer shades looked lovely. Even though this pallet is quite pricey, I would recommend this pallet to anyone who is looking to buy their first higher ended eye shadow pallet as it contains all shades from neutrals all the way to dark and smoky shades. If I'm honest, now i've owned and tried this out for a while I haven't really got a lot of good point to say because of how many bad points there are to this pallet. When compared to other high end pallets at cheaper prices, this really doesn't compare. Listed below are my bad thoughts towards this.
Bad points
Okay...If I'm honest, this pallet got worse for me the more I used it. Even though the shadows look great in the pan, to get them pigmented enough you will have to use fix plus by mac for instance or a setting spray to wet the brush so the shadows becomes more metallic and more wearable on the eyes. Every time I used the more shimmery shades such as chopper, I had to use my setting spray to dampen the bristles to make it easier to apply. The shadows also create a lot of fallout so I would recommend this for that reason to. The colours are really awkward to blend out also. If you are looking to use the shade busted or blackout, you really need to be careful on how much you apply as if you apply to much, It will be really hard to blend out. The matte shades do last longer than the shimmers with a primer base but come out quite chalky. The only creamy shade in the pallet, I find is foxy. Its nice as a subtle highlight or base shade for the lid or underneath the brow bone. This is my main point.... I paid under £30 for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Self Made pallet and it is so much better than this. That pallet also has 12 shades ranging from mattes to shimmers and they are so creamy and blendable, you couldn't ask for a better pallet! (I will review this soon) I would highly recommend purchasing that pallet than this one as you still get various neutral shades but with better pigmentation. Don't get me wrong, you can create some lovely basic looks with this pallet but It really isn't worth the hassle with everything you've got to do to make the shadows work when there are better pallets up for offer.
Overall
In my opinion I would give this pallet a 5/10. The pallet offers a nice range of colours but with not enough pigment. They are hard to blend and have more than a lot of fallout, which is annoying! Even though I'm giving this pallet a 5/10, I don't hate this product because you can get a nice creation from the shades provided but it's just a pain to make the shadows work. However, this is only the case for me. If you have tried this pallet, your skin undertones may work well with this pallet which means the shades will be more pigmented for your skin but this is not the case for me unfortunately.
