Today's post is on a drugstore foundation, Rimmel stay matte. The shade I have is 103 true ivory which is shown in the swatch below. This foundation says its feather light, shine controlling keeping the skin matte all day. The tube offers 30ml of product (1 fluid ounce) Do you think this sounds suitable for you? Lets find out
Reason I brought this
Reason I brought this foundation is to try and control my oily skin. With this being a drugstore product, I wasn't expecting the longevity of this foundation to be amazing but I wanted to try it because it looked like a good coverage foundation which obviously targets at those with oily skin.
Good points
So this foundation for starters in my opinion gives a good coverage over the face. It does well at cancelling out the appearance of pores and fine lines, covers acne and scaring and blends nicely. I like this foundation because it really does dry a nice matte and by this I mean It doesn't make the face feel cacked in makeup and still leaves the face feeling hydrated. You can even powder the face with this foundation and it will still leave the face feeling lightweight. However I would recommend to conceal and powder straight away as it is harder to blend once the foundation has dried down. The colour may look a bit too orange for my skin tone but that's the good thing about this foundation, once applied to the face the shade does wear off leaving it looking like a natural skin colour. If you're trying this foundation in the store as a swatch, the foundation does come across as heavy but trust me, it does feel more lightweight than it looks.Because this product is only £5.99, it's so worth the buy for those who are looking for a good coverage drugstore foundation for those who have combination skin. I like the packaging as it's got an easy applicator due to the squeezable tube. It's also very practical for travelling based on the size and the design of the product
Bad points
Even thought I said this foundation feels lightweight on the skin after applying power, concealer etc, the thing that bothers me is how quickly the foundation dries. Because of this, it makes it hard to blend concealer over the top of this foundation which THEN does it feel weighty on the skin. My advice like I said would be to apply any extra liquid products asap to the face so it blends and sets evenly and nicely, still making the face not look cakey. Like I said in my good points the foundation does blend out nicely and sets evenly. BUT once everything is set in place, after approximately 30 minutes to an hour, I find that the foundation becomes patchy, even after trying various primers underneath to try and fix the problem. With this foundation being matte, I only apply powder to the areas where I apply concealer but it's the areas where I find I don't use concealer such as the jaw line area towards the bottom on the face in which I become patchy. .
Overall
In my opinion I would give this product a 7/10. Honestly, I don't know if I'd repurchase this foundation because I would prefer it to last a lot longer wear before any touch ups but I did like this foundation in terms of coverage and colour. I would highly recommend this foundation to those who have combination skin and because its only £5.99, why not?! This product would not be suitable for those with dry skin for instance but I recommend they try another foundation by rimmel, the match perfection.
Leave your comments on how you feel about this foundation yourself or anything else you'd like to know about this foundation :) Thanks!
