Sleek's Matte Me Lip Creams
Hello everybody! This review is going to be on Sleek's Matte Me Lip Creams. This is a product which has been on the market for quite a while now. The shade I have tried out is the shade birthday suit. These currently retail at £4.99, really inexpensive for this kind of product. There are also another 5 shades you can try ranging from more lighter and more darker colours to suit everybody's preference.
Reason I brought this
To be totally honest...I brought this because I loved the colour and I love matte lipsticks. With this being a 'lip cream' It sounded like it wouldn't be too harsh on the lips, keeping them moisturised for a long period of time. At £4.99, I thought i'd try it out because of how inexpensive and beautiful it is.
Good points
To start with, like i've mentioned, I love the colour. I've only tried one colour from the collection but this one, birthday suit, was really pigmented. I know this shade is really popular too so if you want to try this shade I would hurry whilst they still have some in stock. I think the outer packaging looks really sophisticated for a drugstore lip product. With the matte looking lid and a see through bottle, it really makes the product stunning. The formula of this is ok. I'm putting this in my good points (even though I said ok) because the formula when applying is super creamy and easy to glide onto the lips. It's not sticky and has no smell to it, which I love. If you love a super matte lipstick then you will love this. Because of how matte this dries, it does not transfer onto the hand when testing for instant transfer. I'm saying it's 50/50 for longevity as it stays through food but not through fluids.
Bad points
I'm going to start with my biggest hate for this product and that is the applicator. On the picture provided you will see that the applicator is basically straight with no curve or anything to it. This makes it super hard when trying to follow the lines of your lips, especially round the cupids bow. This, for me, makes my application a bit sloppy and not as neat as I would like it to be due to the fact that is have no curves or edges to help you follow the natural shape of your lips. Another bad point to this is that it dries so quickly. I have mentioned before that I like lipsticks that take there time to dry so I can apply more product if need be easily. I find with this lipstick you need to at least put 2-3 coats on to make the colour stand out more even though it has good pigmentation but this is hard to do because of how quickly the formula dries matte. The formula is so drying on the lips. If you have dry lips, it will extenuate all the fine lines on the lips because of how drying it becomes. When I use this I have to exfoliate and moisturise my lips before application so this does not happen as such and if you want or have this product I would advise to do this. Like I said above this product doesn't really last that well through fluids. I personally drink more than I eat in a day so I only really use this product for when i'm going for a quick shop or just something to eat perhaps.
Overall
Finally I will say that I don't think I would re-purchase this item. However, I would try a different colour as they are pigmented and have a nice variety of shades to choose from. I mean, if you want to try this because of how affordable they are then go ahead but if you have dry lips really consider what I said because it is so harsh on the lips
