Too Faced 'Born this way' foundation FIRST IMPRESSIONS + REVIEW

Too Faced Born this way foundation first impressions + review

Hi everyone! Today I am going to be sharing with you my first impressions and overall review on this foundation by Too Faced. I purchased this foundation at £30 without (postage and packaging) in the shade Porcelain. I believe this is the third lightest shade they do but this was the lightest shade they had on the website I purchased this off. This is an oil free foundation with infused hydrating products to keep the skin at balance.

Reason for purchasing
I think this needs to be addressed before going into any detail about the product. Majority of people who own this have normal/dry skin. They have all said that oily people like myself should stay away from this product. HOWEVER I think this foundation looks flawless on anyone who wears this, even with acne and scaring. BUT people who are oily have tried this and have said it isn't as bad as people say. So I was really 50/50 but decided to splurge the cash and try it out for myself. So the main reason for buying this foundation is because the foundation made peoples complexions to be flawless and I wanted that for myself as at the minute my face has been calm with the acne. And this claims to be oil free which Is always a bonus for me.

My first impression when trying this
on the first day of getting this

So this foundation got delivered to me at 10:30am in the morning. This was perfect timing for me to try out this foundation to see how it wears all day. I decided to apply this with damp beauty blender first instead of a brush because my go to applicator is normally using a beauty blender. I did my everyday makeup routine but just mixed up the foundation by trying this one. First of all I noticed the foundation does not have a smell to it which I love. The pump deposits product so easy to get the desirable amount in which you wish for onto your chosen applicator. I love the packaging on the bottle. The frosted glass makes the product look stunning and really glam! Off to a good start

Application - This applied to my skin ok. For me, I find that when I was dabbing this foundation onto my skin with the beauty blender, it wasn't giving me the coverage in which I expected for my acne scaring as people have said this was a full coverage foundation. However, for the parts of my face such as my forehead which currently have no acne on, this foundation looked flawless as hoped. I have tried this with a brush but my first impressions was not using a brush so I will go into more detail on my overall review below. Once the foundation had dried on the face, I found that it had a slight luminosity finish in which I dont mind too much as it adds a glow to the face. I found the foundation to be very yellow toned too which I prefer but it sempt a bit too dark for me. I know other with a darker shade and they also found this too. This foundation did blend out easily thought on both face and the neck. Because of how yellow this foundation is, I have to blend down the neck to make it all match.

Longevity - Because I have oily skin, longevity was the main first impression for me. This foundation took 2 hours to get oily to the point in which I had to powder. However after powdering with no other touch ups, this foundation went back to looking flawless again going another 4 hours. I will say after 6 hours of wearing this I found that I couldn't re powder the face for a second time. This would have caked the foundation up and in my opinion, wouldn't have done much. For me 6 hours was a pretty decent time as I was not expecting this to last long because of the reviews peoples have told me before. This was with a matte primer applied as a base if you were wondering. Before taking this foundation off, I did realise that the foundation had oxidised slightly, making the foundation darker.

Overall first impression - Overall I was pretty surprised with this foundation for the first day of trying. Those with normal/dry skin who said oily people should not try this were wrong. If you have oily skin like me this is a foundation definitely you should try if you like the look of it on the skin. At the end of my first day of using this I can honestly say I loved how it looked at the end of the day even if I had to touch up with powder once. Even though it sempt oily, because of the luminous finish this foundation has, the shine from the foundation just added to the luminosity making my face appear somewhat highlighted? If that even made sense Idk those who have tried this with oily skin may know what I mean. BUT the big question is...how do I feel about this foundation a week later? Lets found out

Overall yay's and nay's after a week
of using this foundation

Good points
So after a week of using this foundation I still like this foundation BUT not as much as I thought I would. I am going to mention now that my face has been SUPER oily this past week so this may have been the case for some of my negatives. However...The application still applied flawlessly to the face. I found that using a foundation brush works so much better than a beauty blender. I use sigma's flat top kabuki brush and this brush + this foundation work wonders! It glides on the skin flawlessly whilst giving me chance to lightly blend this foundation out so it doesn't look heavy or patchy in which a beauty blender can make it, just my opinion I know others will disagree. I find the foundation still sets will a luminous finish which I am still liking. People may think that it's weird for me to like a luminous finish as I have oily skin but If i'm honest, the more it becomes spring time the more I was a more fresh glowly look. With using a brush also, it doesn't make the colour of the foundation appear darker in what my beauty blender does. I don't know why if i'm honest butttt life goes on. So I am still liking this foundation for appearance but longevity is something else...

Bad points
I am actually very disappointed. I thought I was going of love this foundation despite the longevity but no, I actually am not having a loving relationship with this foundation :( First of all, the foundation highlights all my fine lines of the skin. This includes my smile lines, dents on the neck and frown lines on the forehead. No matter what you try and do to solve the problem, this will not go as it sticks to those areas making it super difficult to blend over. Another thing I find is that this does not cover well over severe pores. I have quite big blackheads on my nose at the moments and this foundation is not covering them to a great extent still making them look noticeable through the foundation. The longevity of this foundation seems to have decreased also. Like I said above, i'm not too sure if my natural oil production lately has something to do with this but this has been lasting me approx 2 hours and I can not touch up because I am that oily everywhere on my skin, not just my T zone areas. The foundation oxidises and comes off so easily onto any surface which makes the skin look patchy and a mess basically. Saying this, somedays It looks worse than others?

Overall
Straight to the point I will not be buying this foundation again. I mean, whilst I have it I will wear it as I paid £30 for it but only for a short period of time. My advice overall to those who are oily is to try this out for yourself. If you like how it looks on others then don't be afraid to try this as I would certainly not stop you from doing so. If you have a decent primer
and setting powder then go ahead! Again, overall this foundation is not long wearing for oily skin but does look flawless on the skin with a luminous finish. Those with normal/dry skin, as expected should have no trouble wearing this due to the coconut water infused within to keep the skin hydrated.

This is the shade porcelain when applied and blended out the the front of the hand.
